Reagan Waskom

Reagan Waskom currently serves as the Director of the Colorado Water Institute and as Director of the Colorado State University Water Center, where his responsibility is to address water research and information needs for the State of Colorado. Dr. Waskom is a member of the Department of Soil & Crop Sciences faculty with a joint appointment to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at CSU. In addition, Reagan currently serves as the Regional Director of the USDA-NIFA Integrated Water Program. Reagan received his BS and MS degrees from Texas A&M University and his PhD from Colorado State University in Environmental Soil Science.

Dr. Waskom’s recent research and outreach projects include: Water sharing arrangements in the Colorado River Basin, Ecosystem services from irrigated agriculture, Irrigation water optimization in water limited environments, evaluation of Western households’ perceptions and preferences for water use and acquisition, impact of produced water on agricultural lands, evaluation of municipal water conservation programs, development of best management practices for crop production, survey of current irrigation management practices to evaluate constraints to adoption.  Reagan’s current teaching responsibility at CSU is for GRAD592 – Graduate Water Resources Seminar.  In addition, Dr. Waskom supervises the CSU Extension Water Outreach program and personnel.
